If you've had the pleasure of a major surgery, you know one of the first things the doctors want to hear from you is a little gas from your ass. Cutting the cheese, cropdusting, a mouse in the house - whatever you want to call it - Todd's progress hinges on it. So far, only rumblings in the tummy.
For Todd this is frustrating. He's walking almost 3 miles a day and doing everything he can, but he is at the mercy of his body. Good thing we have other things to celebrate today to keep him in good spirits. Today he has a tally of many good things...
#1 - The bandages came off and uncovered what will be a totally awesome scar.
#2 - He was told he could drink up to .4 cups of water every 8 hours (yes, those #s are correct).
#3 - His heart rate is steady and normal for the last 24 hours.
#4 - His blood pressure is getting even more normal.
#5 - We had our first non-familial visitors today!
It was so great to see our friends that live in Seattle tonight! It's such an around the clock job to be in the hospital and address everything that needs to be done, that it's nice to kick back and relax with friends.
As the doc says, once he farts, we can all take a deep breath and let out a sigh of relief. I'm no doctor, but I'm thinking that may be the wrong time to take a deep breath.
So I never thought I would be praying for the passing of gas! Wonder if it will be quite the record breaking fart when it does occur. Best of luck with that! Amy and Caleb
ReplyDeleteTodd I have my fingers crossed for you to fart soon ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's getting kind of cold in Portland this week - maybe someone can make you one of these:
